AKKA ASP set the quickest time in tonight’s Spa 24 Hours Night Practice, ahead of tomorrow’s Super Pole session, the best time coming from the team’s #88 Mercedes AMG GT3 of Daniel Juncadella, Raffaele Marciello, Tristan Vautier, with a 2:20.693.
The session, which gave the drivers in the field to get a first taste of lapping the circuit at night this weekend, saw four manufacturers end up in the top five places.
Behind the pace-setting Mercedes, was the #25 Sainteloc Audi R8 LMS, which ended up with a 2:20.932 from Christopher Haase late in the session.
Third meanwhile, was the #77 Am class Barwell Motorsports Lamborghini Huracan, with a 2:21.258, ahead of the #99 ROWE Racing BMW M6 GT3 which finished the night fourth after a 2:21.398.
Completing the top five was the #1 WRT Audi, Chris Mies setting a 2:21.455 at the very end of the session to drop the #62 R-Motorsport Aston Martin to sixth.
While the fastest Am car ended up second, none of the Silver Cup or Pro-Am runners managed to break into the top eight, which was made up of 7 Pro entries and the single Am class Barwell Huracan.
The fastest Pro-Am car – the #49 Ram Racing Mercedes, Euan Hankey setting a 2:21.694 to go ninth overall towards the end of the session. And quickest in the Silver Cup time was set by the #78 Barwell Lamborghini in 20th overall with a 2:22.133.
It must be noted though, that times set in Night Practice mean very little, the main objective for the teams ensuring that all their drivers complete their two mandatory night laps.
The Night Practice session was a quiet one, with very few incidents out on track, outside of a few spins and small offs.
Super Pole is the next session for the Spa 24 Hours field, which is due to start tomorrow at 19:10 local time.
