Alvaro Parente has put K-PAX Racing’s #9 Bentley Continental GT3 that he shares with Andy Soucek on pole for the first PWC SprintX race of the weekend later today at Utah Motorsports Campus.
Parent set a 1:45.271 to seal the deal in Qualifying, pushing his teammate Rodrigo Baptista to second, the Brazillian ending up two tenths adrift in the #3 Bentley. Nevertheless, it was still a strong showing fro Baptista, whose time was good enough to make it a K-PAX Racing front-row lockout.
The best of the rest in third was championship leader Toni Vilander, the Finn managing to set a 1:45.502 in the #61 R. Ferri Motorsport Ferrari 488 GT3 that he shares with Miguel Molina.
Behind, Scott Heckert in the #80 Lone Star Mercedes took the other space on the second row in fourth, ahead of the #24 FP1-topping Alegra Motorsports Porsche of Michael Christensen that ended up slotting in fifth with a 1:48.782.
The #96 Pfaff Porsche, and #2 CRP Racing Mercedes will start sixth and seventh respectively, their times within a second of the pole time.
The Pro-Am pole-sitter, Wei Lu in the TR3 Ferrari, will start eighth overall with a 1:50.266, while the Squadra Corse Garage Italia Ferrari will start from 11th overall and pole position in the Am class.
14 cars are entered for this weekend’s SprintX GT races. Race 1 is scheduled to start at 16:45 local time.
