LMP3 Cup grid building
DSC bumped into Bute Motorsport’s Phil Boland today in the ELMS paddock, who was in the midst of meetings ahead of the 2018 LMP3 Cup round at Donington.
“We’re expecting more cars for Donington, 5-6 CNs in our new invitational class,” he said. “It’s been successful getting them together, though we want to make sure that the LMP3 cars are still the top class so we may restrict the rev limits.
“We’ve also been speaking to some of the Radical Masters teams with SR8s, and that could prove to add more cars to our grid too. We’re pushing hard. We expect the grid for Donington to be better, and next season too. We’re preparing for 2019 early.”
Both Rebellion Racing and DragonSpeed have confirmed to DSC that they are able to get their #1 and #3 R13s, and the #10 BR1 down to their new prescribed minimum weight after the most recent Equivalence of Technology measures saw the non-hybrid powered LMP1s dealt an additional 15 kilo weight break over and above the other measures dealt to their turbocharged class-mates.

Another Borga With Cool Racing
ELMS fans are used to seeing Antonin Borga at the wheel of the #4 Cool Racing Ligier JSP3 in the European Le Mans Series. But, Antonin is not in Silverstone this weekend as his wife is expecting a baby. He is replaced by his look-a-like brother Lucas Borga.
“It’s my first race in the ELMS this week-end” he said apprehensively. Borga already competed two races with Duqueine Engineering’s Ligier JSP3 in 2017, including the Road To Le Mans. “It’s a one-off” Lucas added. “Antonin will be back at Spa next month”.
