Optimum Motorsport will take an increased points lead in the British GT Drivers Championship to the final round of the 2018 season at Donington Park later this month after winning an appeal agains a time penalty imposed at May’s Snetterton meeting.
The 30 second penalty for contact had dropped the #75 Aston Martin from fourth at the flag to ninth post race, the team immediately appealing the decision.
With the process completed Flick Haigh and Jonny Adam now lead the Championship by an increased margin, reclaiming ten points and taking points away from their nearest Championship rivals in the process too.
The pair take an enhanced lead to the season finale in the Pro-Am driver standings too.
“I’m very happy with this decision,” stated Team Principal Shaun Goff. “We never accepted this incident was anything other than a racing accident. We’re delighted with the outcome and now we can look forward to a strong showing at Donington where we stand a good chance of taking the championship honours.”
