VIDEO: Panoz Memories On Film

Looking back with in-car video, and Don himself reviewing some of his own collection

A weekend offering today looking back at the legacy of Don Panoz, who passed away this week, on video.

We kick it off with a short film produced for the 20th anniversary of Panoz Motor Sports.

Another look back, this time from our friends at Mobil 1 The Grid.

A trio of in-car experiences now, first up the epic LMP1 Roadster, at Le Mans! This the car used to film the Michel Vaillante movie back in 2002, the DAMS-run Panoz filling the role of the ‘Leader’ car for the baddy! Just turn up the sound and revel in the mechanical violence!

Spool forward to Sebring in 2011 and the debut of extraordinary, but short-lived Panoz Abruzzi.

Bringing the Panoz racing story up to date is the current GT4 spec Avezzano with Ian James at Lime Rock Park.

Panoz produced a series of short videos chronicling some of the cars in their own collection with Don himself in the presenter role, all well worth a look. Here’s the Esperante GTR-1.

And a time lapse video of the rebuild of the epic and entirely bonkers, Esperante GTR-1 road car!

Next up its the ground-breaking Q9 Hybrid, Sparky, a car truly ahead of its time.

Perhaps the most iconic Panoz race car of all was the LMP1 Roadster S.

Panoz took the Trans-Am title in 2002 with Boris Said.

Panoz did win Le Mans, in 2006 with Team LNT in GT2. Here don remembers the car, and the effort.

Finally, here’s Don appearing on Jay Leno’s Garage, introducing the 2015 Panoz Esperante Spyder road car.
