Two-time British GT Champion, and accomplished musician Rick Parfitt Jnr has announced that this year’s British GT season finale at Donington Park will be his last race.
Parfitt Jnr, who has become a regular in the British GT Championship and a fan-favourite, made the announcement over on Facebook with a video.
Since his first British GT season, he’s scored four wins in the GT3 class with Team Parker, three in 2017 (below, the year he won the GT3 title with Seb Morris) and one in 2016.
He also scored three GT4 victories en route to the 2013 class title with Optimum Motorsport (below, racing alongside Ryan Ratcliffe) and a single win in 2014 with Century Motorsport.
Among his other achievements, Parfitt Jnr also won the 2017 RAC Trophy, the 2017 Sunoco 240 Challenge (which earned him an appearance in the 2018 CTSC race at Datyona), the 2017 Blancpain Gentlemen Trophy and the Bentley Am driver of the year award in 2016 and 2017.

This means that two former champions will be retiring after the race at Donington this weekend, as 2016 champion Derek Johnston also announced last week that he’s going to stop racing after this season.
Parfitt Jnr has however left the door open to driving in the future, stating in the announcement tweet (above) that he’s open to offers for an ‘Encore’.
