European Le Mans Series and Le Mans Cup LMP3 team Ecurie Ecosse / Nielsen Racing has confirmed the first of its two driver line-ups for the upcoming 2018/19 Asian Le Mans Series season.
Driving one of the team’s pair of Ligier JS P3s will be Danish up-and-comer Christian Olsen, and experienced endurance racer Nick Adcock, the duo set to race as part of the series’ budding LMP3 class at four prominent Asian circuits for the first time as a duo.
“It’s a pleasure to announce that Christian and Nick will be joining us for our Asian Le Mans Series adventure this season,” said David Thompson, Ecurie Ecosse / Nielsen Racing team manager.
“Christian (pictured below) has come a long way since he started driving with us earlier this year, and Nick has plenty of experience to draw upon. Because of this, we feel that as a pairing they have a real chance and scoring strong results throughout the campaign, which will see us racing at a selection of spectacular circuits across the continent.”
Olsen adds this programme to his current campaign with Ecurie Ecosse / Nielsen Racing in the European Le Mans Series. During this year, his first in LMP3 competition, in addition to scoring race multiple victories across his British LMP3 Cup Championship and historic F3 commitments, Olsen has finished on the podium twice in the ELMS driving Ecurie Ecosse / Nielsen Racing’s #7 Ligier JS P3.
“I’m really excited to go ahead with the Asian Le Mans Series,” he said. “I’ve decided to go with the offer from Ecurie Ecosse / Nielsen Racing because it offered a chance to race with Nick, and take up effectively, a “Silver Driver” role. That means getting experience setting up the car, taking part in qualifying being more involved with the team’s strategy, which will be paramount ahead of next season. I’m excited to meet him, I’ve heard good things, he seems like a dependable and professional guy to work with. I’m also eager to visit China and Japan for the first time.”
South African based Nick Adcock meanwhile, is no stranger to endurance racing, having amassed over 10 years of experience of long distance racing to add to his 19 seasons in motorsport. Adcock, a previous champion, currently leads the South African Endurance series in his Ligier JS53 Evo with one race to go.
“I’ve been fortunate to enjoy such a long career in motorsport and entering the Asian Le Mans series is, without doubt, one of the biggest challenges to date,” added Adcock.
“I delighted to be joining Ecurie Ecosse / Nielsen Racing who have put together a strong team and their recent results speak for themselves, to win in endurance racing you need to have a fast, well-prepared car, great teamwork and quick drivers. I’m very much a fan of the Ligier product and Onroak offer fantastic support, we certainly have all the ingredients for a successful campaign.”
The team is set to announce its second driver line-up for its Asian Le Mans Series effort in the coming days.
