MDC AMG GT3 Takes 2018 6 Hour of Rome

Prototype challengers hit early trouble

Adrian, and Manuel Zumstein took the win in the XXVIII Edition of the 6 Hours of Rome in their MDC Sports Mercedes AMG GT GT3 after 216 laps of the Vallelunga circuit.

By the flag they had a five-lap advantage over the similar AMG of Krypton Motorsport (Stefano Pezzucchi/Marco Zanuttini) and eleven laps over the Ferrari 458 GT3 of Composit Motorsport (Maurizio Ceresoli/Satoshi Tanaka).

There was early disappointment for the pole setting Wolf GB08 of Avelon Formula with Ivan Bellarosa at the wheel, the car stopping on circuit before being brought back to the pits only to be confirmed as a withdrawal with engine issues. There was trouble too for the Norma M20 CN car of Luca Pirri, pitting from the lead with turbo issues that cost the team almost an hour.

There was a further delay for the Norma with damage from a refuelling fire costing the team a further three laps.

By the midway point it was the Krypton AMG in charge, but a pair of punctures in less than 30 minutes tipped the scales in favour of the MDC car.
