400 Up For Ferrari 488 GT3

The first qualifying race for the 2018 FIA GT Nations Cup marked the 400th race start for the GT3 version of Ferrari’s twin turbo V8 powered Ferrari 488.

The car first raced at Round 2 of the 2016 Australian GT Championship at Albert Park Melbourne in the hands of Vicious Rumour racing and drivers Andrea Montermini and Benny Simonsen and a pair of cars for Maranello Motorsport (Tony D’Alberto/Peter Edwards and Cameron McConville/Adrian Deitz).

Buncombe Family Values

Chris Buncombe’s comeback drive after being tagged in Turn 1 of the first qualifying race was the standout performance of the 60 minute encounter.

Watching on in the AF Corse garage, home to no fewer than six of the teams for the weekend’s GT3 action, was brother Alex, a regular feature in Nissan’s recent racing efforts, and, father to the Buncombe Boys Jonathan, himself a podium finisher at the Spa 24 Hours (below the For Capri he finished 3rd overall at Spa in 1981).

Incidentally, the Nissan GT-R, fielded in Bahrain by KCMG for team Hong Kong, is actually the 2018-spec car raced this season in Blancpain Endurance by Alex Buncombe and prepped for KCMG by  RJN Motorsport.
