At today’s World Motor Sport Council Meeting in Russia, alongside all the announcements concerning the FIA WEC, Macau was approved as the venue for the 2019 FIA GT World Cup.
It will again run as part of the Macau Grand Prix from 14-17 November, subject to circuit homologation and promoter agreement as it stands.
In addition to that, a dedicated class for Silver Drivers will be introduced to the event. This year the GT3-only race ran with a single class.
Meanwhile, the 2019 FIA GT Nations Cup was also approved to take place at the Autodromo Vallelunga in Italy from 1-3 November. This is fresh off the SRO’s announcement at the inagural Nations Cup event last weekend that it wouldn’t be returning to Bahrain next year.
The addition of different categories of motorsport to future Nations Cup events is being evaluated, with the view to creating festival-style events across disciplines.
