TF Sport has announced that Danish Aston Martin factory driver is set to rejoin the team for a second season in the British GT Championship, to race alongside Mark Farmer in a new Vantage GT3.
This complete’s the team’s GT3 line-up, after Graham Davidson and three-time Champion Jonny Adam were previously confirmed as part of the team’s campaign.
“I’m looking forward to the coming season with the new Aston Martin,” Thiim said. “It’s really going to be amazing driving the new GT3 around the great British tracks – some of them are now may favourites – old-school, like Oulton Park, so I’ll really enjoy that.
“The first year, everything was new as I didn’t know my teammate Mark or the UK tracks, so we have a big advantage now going into the second season. We have a better understanding as to what to expect, pushing the right buttons and so the aim is to perform better than last year and go for the championship.”
In Thiim’s first season with TF and Farmer in the UK-based series, the duo scored six podiums from the nine rounds, including victories at Snetterton and Silverstone, helping TF Sport to the teams’ title.
Amongst his numerous accolades in 2018, the Allan Simonsen Award was especially poignant for the Dane.
“We’re grateful to Aston Martin Racing and it’s great to have Nicki back with us this year,” said Tom Ferrier, TF sport director.
“His drive to win is something special and some of his races last year – even when he didn’t win – were sensational. He and Mark make a fantastic pairing alongside Graham and Jonny and combined with the new Vantage, we have very clear championship expectations.”
