AKKA ASP Team has revealed one of its driver crews for its 2019 campaign racing in the Blancpain Endurance Cup and World Challenge Europe.
The team, which will race with Mercedes again in 2019, has signed Vincent Abril, who moved on from his role as a Bentley factory driver this week. The Frenchman will share an AMG GT3 with Mercedes works driver Raffaele Marciello in World Challenge Europe (formerly the Sprint Cup) and the Endurance Cup, with Michael Meadows taking the third seat in the car for the longer races including the Spa 24 Hours.
All three drivers are former Blancpain champions, with Marciello winning titles last year alongside Meadows and Abril winning the Sprint Cup championship in 2015 for Bentley Team HTP.
After such a successful run in 2018, the team is looking to defend its Blancpain GT Series drivers’ and teams’ titles, the Sprint Cup drivers’ championship, as well as overall and Sprint Cup honours in the Silver category.
It plans to reveal further crews that will compete in the Blancpain GT Series ahead of the official test days at Circuit Paul Ricard (13/14 March).
