Australia’s most successful race team, Triple Eight Race Engineering, is set to enter the World Challenge Asia series for the first time this year with a Mercedes AMG GT3.
The team, which has won multiple Supercars titles and Bathurst 1000s, will race with three drivers across the season. Two Pro drivers will share time behind the wheel, former Supercars champion Shane van Gisbergen signed up for three races (Buriram, Suzuka and Yeongam), and WEC LMP2 race winner Jazeman Jaafar set to contest the other.
They will partner his Highness Prince Jefri Ibrahim of the Johor Royal Family, the amateur driver.
The crew will comprise Triple Eight personnel based at the Brisbane factory, the same crew who run the team’s Dunlop Super2 campaign, spearheaded by Andrew Simpson as Team Manager and Romy Mayer as Race Engineer.
