Dane Cameron led the way in the final IMSA WeatherTech practice this morning at Sebring in the #6 Penske Acura. His time was a 1:46.643, just 0.033 faster than the sister car which ended up second after a lap from Helio Castroneves.
Best of the rest was the #5 Action Express Cadillac, Filipe Albuquerque putting up a 1:46.799 to go third and ahead of the two Mazdas that ended up fourth and fifth.
PR1 once again beat out Performance Tech to the fastest time in LMP2, Gabriel Aubry’s time a 1:50.269.
Porsche’s #911 RSR ended up atop GTLM this time, Patrick Pilet setting a 1:56.635 to go two tenths clear of the first of the two Fords, the #67 coming closest after a Richard Westbrook flyer.
BMW’s #24 M8 GTLM ended up fourth, ahead of the #4 Corvette Racing C7.R that completed the top five.
In GTD, the #57 MSR Acura topped the class, Kathrine Legge managing a 2:00.012. The #11 Grasser Lamborghini ended up second, though the car had a big off during the session, sustaining rear-end damage after a hit at Turn 3.
The team will, therefore, have to push hard to get out for Qualifying.
On the other hand, another Lamborghini team, Precision Performance Motorsports, had a better time. Its Huracan GT3 was repaired in time and running after its shunt during Free Practice 2 yesterday.
Qualifying starts on a shot call, at 9:55 am local time.
