Ekris Return To GT4 European Series
After a quiet 2018 season, Ekris Motorsport is returning to the GT4 European Series for a full season effort.
A regular contender in the series since the earliest days, the Dutch team will be running one Ekris developed M4 GT4 for Ricardo van der Ende and Euan McKay.
“It goes without saying that the title is our goal for this year, even though we know that this is an ambitious one, given the strong level of competition,” team manager, Stian Boers says.
“With Ricardo and Euan, we have a driver pairing with a lot of potential and we have improved our Ekris M4 GT4 to make it an even more competitive package, so we are really confident for the upcoming season.”
The Ekris M4 GT4, developed by Ekris Motorsport, won its first Championship in the GT4 European Series in 2017. Based on the experience acquired in the car’s maiden seasons, improvements were made on the durability and performance.
Ekris Motorsport has partnered with Schubert Motorsport this year for technical support.
Dick van Ekris: “Schubert is a respected name in motorsport and I am looking forward to working together. First of all, our focus is to be well prepared for the opening round at Monza. Therefore we have planned some testing before the start of the season, we are really looking forward to going racing again.”
Tockwith Joins GT4 South European Series
Tockwith Motorsports is joining the inaugural season of GT4 South European Series with a Trico sponsored Ginetta G50 (top).
The British outfit will contest the Series in the GTC class with Marmaduke Hall and Eddy Moore.
The pair, who began their TMS careers as team-mates in endurance karting back in 2013, will share driving duties following a promising Britcar Sprint Category campaign last season.
Simon Moore, Tockwith Motorsports’ owner: “This championship has filled a perfect gap for us, as we needed a stepping stone type championship for some of our new up and coming young drivers. We are so pleased to be involved in the inaugural season and, also, it is perfect timing for the opening of our new motorsport satellite base in Spain, which will serve all European racing in the future. We are keeping a close eye on the championship as we have a lot of interest in fielding two more cars. If drivers get signed in time for this year’s campaign it would be great. I am really looking forward to it”.
Diogo Ferrão, Race Ready’s CEO: “It’s amazing to have Tockwith Motorsports in the GT4 South European Series. It’s a team with a long European motorsport history, having achieved wins in several categories, and now entering two drivers in our series to launch their international careers in a demanding world of GT racing. The participation of Tockwith Motorsports shows the reach of the GT4 South European Series. In addition to the interest generated in the Iberian Peninsula, there is also interest coming from other European countries such as England”.
