Bruno Famin has been appointed Director of Operations within the sport division of the FIA and will take up his position at the Federation’s Geneva offices on 1sJuly.
In this newly created role, reporting directly to the FIA Secretary General for Sport Peter Bayer, the ex Peugeot Sport Director will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Sport Division’s departments.
Famin’s main responsibility will be the coordination and integration of the activities of all sporting and supporting functions.
FIA President, Jean Todt, said: “Bruno brings a wealth of experience across many facets of motorsport to this new position, which has been created to strengthen the development of FIA Sport. His passion for competition and organisational strength will be a great asset in guiding and implementing our strategic vision. I would also like to thank PSA Motorsport for its cooperation during Bruno’s transition to the FIA.”
Famin’s motorsport career spans more than three decades. After completing his engineering studies at ENSAM School in Paris, in 1986 he began his career with a role in transport and logistics for SCAC’s West Africa region.
Two years later he joined Peugeot Talbot Sport as Powertrain Development Engineer for its customer competitions. In 1994 he embarked on a 10-year tenure with PSA, initially in Argentina as Project Manager for automotive industry launches and latterly in a cross-functional coordination role in France.
A new role with the marque took him back into the field of motorsport competition where, as Technical Director for Peugeot Sport, he led the Endurance program to victory at Le Mans in 2009. Famin was then instrumental in Peugeot Sport’s victory and record at Pike’s Peak in 2013, followed by three Dakar wins in 2016-18.
François Wales has been named to take over from Bruno Famin at the helm of Peugeot Sport.
