Toyota test and reserve driver Thomas Laurent has confirmed that he will be driving the 2019/2020 FIA WEC season in LMP2 with Alpine.
“My position as @Toyota_Hybrid test and reserve driver gives me the opportunity to stay in LMP2 for the next season, so I will be driving for Alpine! In the meantime, focus on the race of this weekend!” Laurent wrote on Twitter.
Laurent was announced in his new position with Toyota earlier this year and it marked another significant step in his prolific rise through the LMP ranks.
This will be the first time the Frenchman returns to LMP2 since signing on with Rebellion. His record in LMP2 includes a second-place finish in the 2017 WEC season and a Le Mans 24 win and overall podium in the same year with JCDC Racing.
He completed a rookie test of the Toyota TS050 in Bahrain and was announced as a Toyota driver in May of this year.
