Nürburgring 24 Hours: Free Practice 1 Red Flagged After Downpour

Rowe BMW fastest before rain intervenes

The first Free Practice Session for the 2019 Nürburgring 24 Hours saw a Red Flag for heavy rain bringing a premature end to proceedings after just under an hour of a planned 100 minutes of track action.

The rain hit from just 10 minutes into the session, rapidly covering much of the circuit and leaving driving conditions treacherous, catching out Simon Trummer in the #55 Octane 126 Ferrari and Philipp Wlazik in the #38 KCMG Nissan GTR amongst others, neither suffered major damage.

The leading runners had though managed to put in at least one flying lap with 16 cars lapping in under 9 minutes before the weather arrived, Marco Wittmann managing an 8:27.519 in the #99 Rowe Racing BMW M6 GT3 to top the session ahead of Fabian Schiller in the #17 GetSpeed AMG GT3 (8:32.674) with Phillip Eng in the second Rowe BMW third quickest.
