Peter Dumbreck ‘That’ Accident at Le Mans, 20 Years On

On video and in conversation with the DSC editor

The Le Mans 24 Hours this year marked 20 years since one of the most infamous incidents at the great race, the moment when Peter Dumbreck’s Mercedes CLR lifted off and flew into the trees, the third time that the CLRs had got airborne that week.

In 2019 Peter was back at Le Mans, once again part of the ACO TV on-air team. He took time out to revisit the site of the incident, on video, with Louise Beckett and Allan McNish and later sat down with the DSC Editor to recount the events of the day, and the lead-up to them, for an interview that featured on the ‘Day at Le Mans Podcast
