Oman Racing with TF Sport has revealed that Aston Martin factory driver Nicki Thiim will race its #97 Pro-Am class Aston Martin Vantage GT3 in the 2019 24 Hours of Spa next month.
Thiim joins the team’s previously confirmed trio of WEC ‘Super Season’ GTE Am pairing Charlie Eastwood and Salih Yoluc and Ahmad Al Harthy.
“I’m looking forward to, it’s the biggest GT3 race on the planet so as a GT driver it’s, of course, one of the ones you want to go to,” said Thiim.
“Another 24 hours, it’s a special one. It’s a good line-up with the TF boys, being back with Salih is something I’m looking forward to.”
Thiim has history racing with TF Sport, the Dane competing alongside Yoluc with the team in the 2017 European Le Mans Series season.
He also races with Mark Farmer in the British GT Championship, with the pair currently in their second season with the Vantage GT3.
“Nicki is a huge asset to have in the team,” said TF Sport owner Tom Ferrier.
“He is a superstar and adds to our strong line-up. We’ve got some consistently good results in Blancpain, with three pole positions and three podiums, we’re just seeking that first season win in the series.
“Nicki has previously raced with Salih and knows Charlie well from the work with Aston Martin, so matched with Ahmad I think we’re in a very good position to be fighting at the front once again. We just need a bit of luck on our side and hopefully, we can come home with a solid result.”
TF Sport and Thiim have accumulated 12 podiums and three wins in the three years they have enjoyed together.
DSC expects the 2019 Spa 24 Hours entry list to be around 70-cars long, with multiple guest entries. Among them, in the Aston Martin camp, DSC understands that R-Motorsport is considering running a third Aston Martin.
