Audi Sport has announced the four teams they have nominated to score points for the marquee at the upcoming 24 Hours of Spa, the third round of the International GT Challenge.
More than 10 Audi R8 GT3 Evo cars are expected to take part in the race, though, IGTC regulations state that only four cars per manufacturer are eligible to score points in the championship.
Thus, carrying the banner for Audi in their hunt for another IGTC title will be Team WRT with two cars, and Team Sainteloc and Land-Motorsport with a car apiece.
Christopher Haase, Frédéric Vervisch and Markus Winkelhock are set to drive for Team Sainteloc, the outfit that won the race for Audi in 2017.
Frank Stippler and Dries Vanthoor who are coming off a victory at the 24 Hours of Nurburgring last weekend are set to drive alongside Alex Riberas in the first of two Team WRT entries. Robin Frijns, Nico Müller and René Rast meanwhile, make up the second entry for the hugely successful Belgian outfit.
Ricardo Feller who competes with Land Motorsport in the ADAC GT Masters will pair with Audi Sport factory driver Christopher Mies in the Land entry.
They will be joined by perhaps an unexpected name; Jóse María López. The Toyota LMP1 driver will get his first taste of the Audi R8 when he takes to the track as the final driver for Land Motorsport.
The 24 Hours of Spa biggest round of both the IGTC Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup each year. This means further Audi entrances from the Endurance Cup are expected, including an additional two Team WRT cars and entrances from Attempto Racing and Phoenix Racing.
There are two days of testing scheduled for this week on July 3 and 4, ahead of the race later in the month.
