Perfetti takes second Porsche win in Spa.
Egidio Perfetti dominated the second race of the Porsche GT2 Supersportscar race at Spa Francorchamps, taking the lead off the start and never being headed.
The Porsche 935 driver has dominated the weekend, setting a pace that was over a second a lap quicker than his rivals.
The race was held in considerably cooler conditions than the first race with the 30-minute affair being held under overcast conditions with a little scattered rain throughout the race, getting heavy enough to worry the drivers on the final lap.
It meant the final lap was slower, with the final lap being some 13-14 seconds slower than the fastest lap of the race.
However, at the front, while Perfetti dominated, there was a great fight for second involving Jan-Erik Slooten, Klaus Abbelen, Christian Ried and James Sofronas.
Slooten had started in second but lost the position off the start, putting Sofronas at the head of the four-car fight.
The battle continued throughout the race with the cars being nose to tail, often separated by less than two seconds.
There were two key moments of the battle. The first was when Sofronas ran wide in Les Combes after a very slight touch with Slooten. The time loss was minimal but with the tight battle, it was enough to drop him to fifth.
The battle would continue but Slooten would take second. The second was when Abbelen was caught out slightly in the rain dropping from third to fifth on the final lap. Ried, therefore, took third and Sofronas fourth.
Behind this battle was another battle for Chris Hoy and Frank Kräling with Hoy having to battle back from a poor grid position. Hoy would get the position in the end.
Otherwise, Jason Bell had a minor spin but continued with no damage. Gelf did not take the start.
