Tyler McQuarrie and the #39 Carbahn Motorsports Audi R8 will start from pole position for the Michelin Pilot Challenge race at Road America tomorrow. McQuarrie’s best lap was a 2:16.512 and leaves the team in a good position to extend its three-point championship lead.
The #46 Team TGM Mercedes-AMG GT4 of Owen Trinkler and Hugh Plumb ended the session in second. Trinkler set a best time of 2:16.670.
A surprising name in the MPC ended the session in third, that being the #09 Automatic Racing Aston Martin Vantage of Akhil Rabindra. Automatic Racing currently sits 26th in the championship standings with their #09 Aston Martin after competing only at Daytona and the most recent two rounds at Canadian Tyre Motorsports Park and Lime Rock Park. Rabindra, a regular competitor in the GT4 European Series, set a best time 2:16.836.
In TCR the #37 LA Honda World Civic of Shelby Blackstock claimed pole position with a best time of 2:19.712. Blackstock and Tom O’Gorman will look to reclaim their championship lead in TCR after losing it following tough outings at CTMP and Lime Rock Park.
Second in TCR, and the team that leads the championship is the #98 Bryan Herta Autosport Hyundai Veloster. Mark Wilkins set a best time of 2:20.021, three-tenths of a second behind Blackstock.
Rounding out the top three and making it three different marquees at the fore of the field, was the #23 Fast MD Racing Audi RS3 with Nick Galante setting a 2:20.098.
The Michelin Pilot Challenge race is set for later this evening at 5:05 PM EDT or 22:05 BST.
