ORECA has built up quite a customer base for their current 07 LMP2 chassis with the latest new addition to the build numbers shaking down at Paul Ricard, bound for FIA WEC service with Jota Sport.
This car is set to replace the car raced at Silverstone by the team which will, henceforth, do service as the travelling spare for the Jackie Chan DC Racing effort.
The Tweet accompanying the pictures of the car suggests that this is the 50th chassis in the current run (which includes the surviving ORECA 05s, and the current Acura DPis, but not the Rebellion R-One or R13 LMP1s), but DSC believes that whilst this is chassis number 50, there are actually fewer, Chassis #13, for instance, was never built!
Either way that is an impressive number with at least 23 ORECA 07 LMP2s currently racing in WEC, IMSA and ELMS competition, plus the pair of Acura DPis, plus the privately-owned sps Performance car (that raced for the first time as a replacement for IDEC’s damaged #28 car at Spa last weekend), plus the newly delivered additional car for PR1 Mathiasen and new cars too for a pair of as yet unannounced race efforts.
Three full ORECA 05s are believed to still exist, the Le Mans winning cars from KCMG (2015) and Alpine (2016) plus an ex Jackie Chan DC Racing car, now in the hands of RLR MSport and set to grace the Asian Le Mans Series in 2019/20, with most of the remainder updated to 07 spec since 2017.
The remainder of the production run is accounted for by current spare chassis (close to double figures), and those damaged or destroyed in accidents.
