Rabindra Puts Automatic Racing On Pole

JDC Miller will start from the front in TCR

Akhil Rabindra in the #09 Automatic Racing Aston Martin Vantage qualified on pole position for the Michelin Pilot Challenge race from Road Atlanta.

Rabindra’s best time was a 1:25.715, one-tenth of a second quicker than the next best time that came from Sebastian Priaulx in the #15 Multimatic Motorsports Ford Mustang.

Sebastian Priaulx is making his North American racing debut this weekend at Road Atlanta. He is the son of Andy Priaulx, the former Ford WEC driver.

Rounding out the top three in GS was Owen Trinkler in the #46 Team TGM Mercedes-AMG. Trinkler’s best time was 1:25.992.

In TCR, Britt Casey Jr. secured the pole position for the #17 JDC-Miller Motorsports Audi RS3 LMS. Casey’s best time was 1:27.826.

Michael Lewis in the #98 Bryan Herta Autosport Hyundai Veloster N joined Casey as the only TCR drivers to set times under the 1:28.000 mark with Lewis’ best time being a 1:27.915.

The #37 LA Honda World Honda Civic of Shelby Blackstock ended the session in third with a best time of 1L28.558, a remarkable half-second behind the top two in the class.

Tomorrow’s MPC race is the final of the season and is set for 1:25 p.m. local time or 18:25 BST. The race can be seen around the world on IMSA.tv.
