Another Low Car Count Set For FIA GT World Cup

17 cars for November's races in Macau

The 2019 FIA GT World Cup entry list has been released today. It features 17 cars across four manufacturers for the pair of races in Macau next month.

This is another low car count for the annual event held as part of the Macau Grand Prix. It is though up on last year’s 15-car entry.

Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Porsche are the manufacturers represented on the list. Mercedes boasts the biggest number of cars, with six making the trip for the fifth edition of the FIA GT World Cup.

Zun Motorsport Crew, Craft-Bamboo Racing (two cars), Solite Indigo Racing and GruppeM (also two cars) will race with AMG GT3s. Among the six, previous winners Maro Engel and Eduardo Mortara feature as driving talent for GruppeM and Craft-Bamboo respectively.

The other two of the four previous winners on the entry are Augusto Farfus who will race with BMW Team Schnitzer and ɹooɥʇuɐΛ suǝɹnɐ˥ (apologies Laurens – Dep Ed), who will drive for ROWE Racing.

Audi, which has five cars on the entry from WRT, Team Rutronik, Team Asia TSRT and Phoenix Racing, has no previous winners driving an R8 LMS. Though Dries Vanthoor, Christopher Haase and Kelvin Van der Linde are most certainly contenders.

As in recent seasons, the competition will be run over two race distances, a 12 lap Qualification Race followed by an 18 lap Main Event that will determine this year’s FIA GT World Cup Champion.

The Macau Grand Prix is set to run from November 14th-17th.
