IMSA and NBC Sports on Thursday announced the introduction of Track Pass by NBC Sports Gold, a subscription service that will provide coverage of the Weathertech Sportscar Series, the Michelin Pilot Challenge, and the IMSA Prototype Challenge for the 2020 season.
The change does mean that the Michelin Pilot Challenge and the IMSA Prototype Challenge will move behind a paywall and to the NBC Sports Gold platform for 2020. This change only affects viewers in the United States who had previously been able to stream both series free of charge on IMSA.tv.
The service does not require a cable subscription and prices for the IMSA-only package are set at $2.99 per month or $19.99 for the complete season.
“Track Pass on NBC Sports Gold offers our fans more options to watch IMSA content on the devices they are using the most. Metrics indicate our fans are consuming more of our product digitally, and the move to Track Pass on NBC Sports Gold is a natural progression for coverage…” said IMSA CEO Ed Bennett through a press release.
Viewers outside of the United States will continue to be able to watch all IMSA-related events on IMSA.tv. Porsche GT3 Challenge and Lamborghini Super Trofeo, as well as Weathertech Championship qualifying, will remain available on IMSA.tv to the United States market.
