In the wake of the announcement of the GEAR-backed full season #19 effort with Christina Nielsen and Katherine Legge, and the news on DSC of the move of the Magnus Racing Lamborghini to Grasser’s Miami workshop with John Potter looking set to put his racing efforts under their wing for 2020 too, there are two additional snippets to add to the Grasser story for the coming season.
The first is that Bia Figueiredo and Tatiana Calderon will join Legge and Nielsen to again complete an all-female effort in GTD for the Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona. Figuerdo, Nielsen and Legge will also contest the other four IMSA enduros at Sebring, Watkins Glen and Road Atlanta. The pic above
“I’m very excited to join GEAR Racing and this driver line-up! The Rolex 24 is one of the most exciting and challenging races in the world. I’m looking forward to being part of it. Coming back to America where I started my international career is quite special. I can’t wait to drive on the famous Daytona banking for the first time,” says Calderon.
Bia Figuerdo: “I couldn’t be more excited to be back at IMSA for 2020 with such a great team! In 2019, I had the opportunity to race with Katherine and Christina which was an incredible experience. I am honoured to be part of GEAR Racing and I’m confident we will achieve great results. I can’t wait to drive the #19 GRT prepared Lamborghini at ROAR with the girls! We really have a great shot of winning in 2020. I’m also extremely happy that Tatiana is joining us, as I consider her to be a talented young woman and it’s great to have another Latina on the team. I am counting down the days to meet up with Katherine, Christina and Tatiana, and kick off the new season with success!”
In addition, a recent Instagram post from Gottfried Grasser (top) reveals that the GRT effort will field a third, as yet unannounced Lamborghini for the Roar test, the likely programme for the car looking set to be a run at the four-race Endurance Cup.
The same shot meanwhile also finally confirms the ex Magnus Huracan being on-site in Miami, the rear wing of the car in front of shot clearly showing the marks left by the removal of the Magnus vinyl!
