The final pre-event entry list for the 2020 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season-opening Rolex 24 Hours has been revealed, the number of cars down to 38 following the expected withdrawal of Rick Ware Racing’s Riley/Multimatic LMP2 chassis.
Rick Ware Racing’s car was heavily damaged after James Davison had an off during the Roar Before The Rolex 24 test. The team was known to have been working on a ‘plan b’ which would have seen it enter an Audi R8 LMS in the GTD class, but the team has been unable to put all the pieces in place on such short notice to make the race.
The team’s withdrawal news brings the number of LMP2 entries down to five cars for the race and the total number of entries down to 38.
Two of its Rolex 24 drivers have been confirmed in other cars for the race. Mark Kvamme, and Sunoco Challenge winner Johnathan Hoggard, will race with Precision Performance Motorsports’ GTD class Lamborghini Huracan GT3. They will co-drive with duo Eric Lux and Brandon Gdovic.
