Aston Martin has announced that they plan to continue with their young driver programme in 2020. Ten drivers aged between 17 and 25 will be eligible for a spot in the programme this year.
All of the young drivers will be mentored by Aston Martin factory drivers Darren Turner, Jonny Adam, and Charlie Eastwood. The young drivers will also spend time in Aston Martin simulators.
Last year, British GT4 champion Tom Canning emerged as a favourite in the programme. Aston Martin recently used him in their WEC rookie test in Bahrain.
“Being a part of the Academy in 2019 really set me up for my test in Bahrain,” said Canning.
“The Aston Martin mentors were a real help to me. It felt like being in a team away from my team and it was a great opportunity to learn and grow as a driver. The AMR Driver Academy has really propelled my career,” Canning added.
Graduates of the programme will receive financial support towards their 2021 race programme, simulator time and even a TAG Heuer AMR timepiece.
