Tony Gaples and Michael Cooper have been confirmed to return to the Blackdog Speed Shop team to drive McLaren 570S GT4s in the 2020 GT4 America Sprint season.
The team’s first season in McLaren 570S GT4 machinery last year saw four race victories and second place championship finishes both overall and in GT4 Am respectively, continuing Blackdog Speed Shop’s run as the most successful team in the GTS/GT4 class in what was formerly Pirelli World Challenge.
The team has taken 29 race victories, two Team Championships, four Driver’s Championships and has been a part of 3 Manufacturer’s Titles in the series.
Both drivers are continuing with the team, with both McLarens, the #10 and #11, freshly rebuilt ahead of the championship opening round at COTA.
Gaples returns to the championship as one of the most experienced drivers in the field, with over 200 race starts in the series, while Cooper brings McLaren Automotive factory driver experience, looking for a fourth SRO America championship.
The opening round of the Pirelli GT4 America Championship is on the 7th and 8th of March, with a Sprint doubleheader at Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas.
