Polish LMP team Inter Europol Competition has confirmed two of the three drivers set to drive its #34 Ligier JSP 217 in the 2020 European Le Mans Series Season.
Team regulars Kuba Smiechowski and Mathias Beche will share the car again, with the third driver to be confirmed shortly.
“I am delighted to be part of the team again,” said Beche. “The 2020 ELMS season is going to be super competitive and I cannot wait. The team has high expectations for the coming season. We know we have to step up and we are working hard to get what it needs to be competitive.”
“I am training hard every day to deliver my very best. I also like to be helping my teammates and share my experience. It’s nice to be paired with Kuba, we get on very well. I really believe in him and I know he will do a great job this year.”
The 2020 ELMS season will be Inter Europol’s second as a Ligier customer in the LMP2 class. Team manager Sascha Fassbender says the team feels it can be competitive with the JS P217 platform in what is set to be a bumper LMP2 field.
“We are very pleased to be competing in the ELMS again this year,” he said. “Over the past few years the competition has become much stronger, and we are looking forward to facing this competition in 2020 with the Ligier. The full Ligier team with Pierre Nicolet have given us the confidence to have a competitive car in the ELMS in 2020 with the Ligier JSP 217.
“We are very happy to have a harmonious and strong driver pairing with Mathias and Kuba. At the moment we are still in negotiations with various drivers and we will shortly announce the 3rd driver. We would also like to participate in the 24H of Le Mans again this year and already have submitted the entry form. We are looking forward to the new season with confidence and many exciting races.”
