Andy Meyrick will be returning to the Michelin Le Mans Cup in 2020 with United Autosports. For the past two years, Meyrick has been racing a range of GT machinery and so this also marks a return to racing prototypes for the established British racing driver.
In 2017, Meyrick came third in the Championship with Motorsports98 driving the Ligier JS P3. The United Autosports team return to the track in 2020 with the new, second-generation, Ligier JS P320.
“I’m very excited to be joining United Autosports this season”, said Meyrick. “United is such an experienced and talented team. I’ve also known Richard for a long time, and he runs a fantastic program. This is going to be a great year.”
Meyrick will be racing in the #24 car alongside Brazilian co-driver Daniel Schneider. “Daniel is a proven Champion and I’m very much looking forward to co-driving with him. We have a very good opportunity to do well this year and I’m looking forward to being back competing in the Michelin Le Mans Cup Championship and back driving a prototype.
“Obviously, this is a slight change of plans from my previously announced drive with Bullitt Racing, but I’m very thankful to Stephen and the team for allowing me to take up this opportunity. I’m looking forward to being close to them in the paddock and wish them every success with the Bentley.”
“I’m really pleased Andy will be joining the team for 2020”, said Richard Dean, co-owner of United Autosports. “I have known him for many years, and he is a very experienced and fast driver, so I am excited to see what he can bring to our Le Mans Cup team. I am hopeful that he will also be crucial to the development of our new Ligier JS P320 as we work together throughout the year.”
The team recently completed testing of the new Ligier JS P320 and look forward to the first official test in Barcelona on April 1st, 2020.
With Meyrick now not driving with Bullitt Racing this season, the team has had to find a replacement to steer its Bentley Continental GT3. The team has announced today that Romain Monti, who competed with the team in the GT4 European Series last year, has been signed up to drive alongside Stephen Pattrick.
