Supercars Confirms Potential Double-Header With Bathurst 12 Hour

Dependent on International travel restrictions

As suggested on DSC on Friday, the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship (VASC) has confirmed a final race of the current, 2020, season on Feb 6/7 2021 a Mount Panorama Circuit as part f its restructured calendar.

That weekend is the slot allocated at present for the 20201 Bathurst 12 Hours and contrary to media reports elsewhere, the current intention, subject to decisions on international travel restrictions in relation to the COVID19 crisis, is that VASC will mount a doubleheader weekend with the 2021 Intercontinental GT Challenge season opener on the Mountain.

No decision has as yet been announced on the format for the Supercars race.

Supercars CEO Sean Seamer: “We certainly wouldn’t want to try and replicate the Bathurst 1000. “There’s a tremendous opportunity going to Bathurst a second time, but tremendous risk as well. So we’re going to have to be innovative and make sure it’s different.”

Both races are promoted by Supercars Events.
