United Autosports Looking Set To Acquire Strakka Racing Assets
DSC industry sources have confirmed that Yorkshire, UK-based United Autosports look set to acquire the assets of the now-defunct but well equipped Strakka Racing.
Industry sources have confirmed to DSC that United co-owners Richard Dean and Zak Brown have both been seen visiting Strakka’s previous operating base near Silverstone.
There was a polite “No comment” from a team spokesperson when contacted by DSC but United Autosports have made no secret of their wish to add a GT race programme to their current LMP2, LMP3 and historic racing activities.
The team previously ran Audi (top) and McLaren GT3 machinery and Ginetta GT4 machinery in a variety of programmes from 2010 – 2014.

Yoluc and Eastwood Join Pro GT Field for GT Open
FIA WEC GTE AM race winners and title contenders Salih Yoluc and Charlie Eastwood are set to join the GT Pro field for the 2020 International GT Open with a TF Sport Aston Martin Vantage GT3 liveried in the same popular and striking red and black colours featured on the WEC car.
TF Sport and Yoluc made their combined GT Open debut in 2016 with previous WEC teammate, Euan Hankey in the #34 Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3. The team claimed a pole position at Monza, two wins (at Silverstone and Monza) and a further podium finish.
The revised calendar sees the six rounds of GT Open start on August 8 at Hungaroring and the series finale will take place at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in November.
Salih Yoluc: “I am very happy to be coming back to the GT Open championship, it has grown so much since I last competed in 2016. Charlie and I have shared many successes in the last couple of years, so I’m really looking forward to being out on the grid once again.”
Charlie Eastwood: “It’s great to be teamed up with Salih in yet another championship. He is one of the fastest GT AM drivers out there and has proved himself to be ultra-competitive in both GT3 and GTE PRO-AM classes, so it will be great to see him develop further as a driver within the PRO class.”
Telitz Confirmed For Full Season AVS Lexus Seat
Indy Lights racer Aaron Telitz has been named by AIM Vasser Sullivan as the full-season replacement for Parker Chase alongside Jack Hawksworth in the team’s #14 Lexus RC F GT3 after Chase stepped down earlier this week citing scheduling difficulties with his academic studies after the post-COVID-19 reset of the IMSA calendar.
AVS co-owner Jimmy Vasser: “We’re happy to announce that Aaron Telitz will become a full-time member of the AVS team for the remaining races of the 2020 season.
“Aaron is a fantastic driver and this is the next step in the plan that we started last season when Aaron ran the four IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup races for us and was embedded with our IndyCar team. Aaron did a great job going from open-wheel cars to sports cars helping us finish second in our Rolex 24 debut in 2019, and did a great job again in this year’s Rolex 24.”
Aaron Telitz: “I’m super stoked to be joining the team for the 2020 IMSA WeatherTech GTD season.
“It’s great to be getting a full-time ride. When I joined the team last year, our collective goal was to continue working toward some bigger things and here we are. It’s a culmination of a lot of work. I have a ton of people to thank, my sponsor Rice Lake Weighing Systems, Jimmy, Sulli, Andrew, everyone at AVS and Lexus for trusting me with this position. Let’s go win some races.”
