Both Ends Of The Scale: Aston Martin Vulcan & Dacia Logan

For Britcar And NLS

Endurance racing is a very broad church, but there can be few cars further apart on the performance scale than the mighty Aston Martin Vulcan AMR Pro and the bargain bucket that is the Dacia Logan.

Aston Martin Vulcan For Britcar!

Britcar is on the bill for a double-header of support race for the FIA WEC at Spa next month and a late addition to the entry comes in the very, very shapely form of the Aston Martin Vulcan AMR Pro of Gleb Stepanovs. Entered by Venture Engineering, and with Stepanovs joined by his regular driver coach, Steve Tomkins.

The duo is stepping up from Aston Martin Owners’ Club (AMOC) races.

Spa is a brand new challenge for them, as Stepanovs explains: “Racing an Aston Martin Vulcan at a circuit as iconic as Spa-Francorchamps is the stuff that dreams are made of. Vulcan was designed for tracks like Spa with its fast, sweeping curves, so we really can’t wait to get out there and race. We’re very happy to be able to go racing again now that the lockdowns are easing and to do it at a circuit like this is going to be great. Spa is a real test of “man and machine” so we are looking forward to this exciting challenge.”

Dacia Logan Takes on the Nordschleife

Oliver Kriese from Münster and pseudonym driver “Doom” dreamed of bringing the cheap n’cheerful Dacia Logan to racing in the Nürburgring endurance series.

The Logan is a budget offering from the Renault/ Nissan conglomerate, the car based on the underpinnings of the last generation Renault Clio, a car with no little competition history.

The Logan made its NLS debut in class SP3 in NLS3, the duo finishing a very creditable third in class.

“We love the Nordschleife,” said Stefan. “We have already been to different series with our Dacia. Now the time has come to finally start at the NLS, true to the motto ‘professionals against amateurs’. And we had a lot of fun. We were warmly received and got along really well with all the fast cars in the race. We will be back definitely!”

Kriese and “Doom” will be back for NLS4, The 43rd RCM DMV Grenzlandrennen on Saturday.
