De Vries Tops FP1 In G-Drive Aurus

Droux fastest in LMP3, Lietz edges Piccini in GTE

Nyck De Vries topped the times inn Free Practice 1 on Friday Morning at Monza, a 1:34.612 for the #26 G-Drive Racing Aurus driver one of only two times under 1:35 in the 90-minute session, the mark inside the current LMP2 lap record.

The other came from Championship leader Filipe Albuquerque, his 1:34.990 edging out a second G-Drive pilot, Mikkel Jensen by under a tenth.

Fourth fastest, and topping the times easy in the session was High Class Racing’s Anders Fjordbach, a tenth back from Jensen with Konstantin Tereschenko,(Duqueine), Sophia Floersch (Richard Mille), Nico Lapierre (Cool racing), Ben Haney (DragonSpeed, Will Stevens (Panis) and Simon Trummer (#35 Algarve Pro) rounding out the top ten drivers, the #35 BHK Motorsport Oreca making a rare appearance in the top ten cars thanks to an effort from Sergio Campana.

LMP3 was topped by RealTeam racing’s David Droux with a 1:43.781, half a tenth faster than DKR’s Laurents Hörr with RLR MSport’s Malthe Jakobsen the third driver under 1:44.

Colin Noble (#7 Nielsen), Wayne Boyd (#2 United), Dino Lunardi (#13 Inter Europol) Garett Grist (#10 Nielsen), Gustas Grnbergas (#15 RLR Sport), and Maxime Robin and Vincent Capillaire (Both Graff) rounded out the top 10. The #11 EuroInternational Ligier sat out the session.

In GTE Richard Lietz posted a 1:47.373 in the #93 Proton Porsche 911 RSR to edge #60 Iron Lynx Ferrari driver Andrea Piccini by one-hundredth of a second. Allessio Picariello (#77 Proton Porsche), Rahel Frey (#83 Iron Lynx Ferrari) and Matt Griffin (#55 Spirit of Race Ferrari) rounded out the top 5.

The Afternoon Bronze test saw John Falb top the times in the #25 Algarve Pro Oreca with a 1:37.339, two tenths clear of Dennis Anderson in the High Class Racing Oreca.

LMP3 saw Rob Wheldon top the session in the #2 United Autosports Ligier JS P320 (1:45.318) with Christian Ried topping the GTE times in the #77 Proton Porsche (1:48.509).
