Team WRT has withdrawn its two-car Audi GT3 entry from the Red Bull Ring round of the ADAC GT Masters this weekend after three of its staff members provided positive Covid-19 tests.
The team reports that all three involved are asymptomatic and have been isolated, according to regulation in place in Austria and to the team’s internal protocols.
The rest of the team’s staff is undergoing additional tests at regular intervals, which all have yielded negative results so far.
Team Principal Vincent Vosse: “We are faced with a situation that we all know could occur in the current context, and have immediately activated the strict protocols that the team has prepared for such a circumstance. Maximum precaution and total
transparency are our guidelines. This is why we have decided to withdraw from the Red Bull Ring round and to inform the ADAC GT Masters organizers and local authorities, with which we are fully cooperating to ensure maximum safety for all.”
The decision sees both the #30 Audi for Rolf Ineichen and Mirko Bortolotti and the #32 for Charles Weerts and Dries Vanthoor (currently 5th in the Championship standings) stood down for the weekend.
