Roberto Lecorte from Cetilar Racing has confirmed that the team’s Dallara P217 Gibson LMP2 car will have one final race outing in January, joining the entry at the 2021 Rolex 24 at Daytona before it is parked and replaced for the 2021 FIA WEC by an entry for the Italian team in GTE Am with an AF Corse-supported Ferrari 488 GTE Evo.
“We tested a car two months ago at Vallelunga and I have to say that I was surprised and impressed. The GT cars have made enormous strides and are good fun to push hard, with a lot of grip and big power.”
Lecorte will be disappointed to finish the LMP2 adventure but reflects that:
“The Dallara is simply not competitive and, in addition, I am not in agreement with the move to slow down the LMP2s next season (to ensure a performance separation from the incoming Hypercar class).
“It is the right time to move, and we go to a class where there are many competitive cars. ”
The Cetilar Racing team is set to be seen more widely still next season as Lecorte also confirmed:
“We have signed to be a sponsor of Ferrari GT Competition, I am very proud that our name will also be seen on the GTE Pro cars in the WEC and at Le Mans next season.”
