Phoenix Racing has confirmed that their debut LMP2 campaign in the 2021 Asian Le Mans Series will see Kelvin van der Linde and Nicki Thiim form part of a rotating driver squad with Matthias Kaiser and Simon Trummer.
DSC understands that the two Pro drivers are set to race in 2 races apiece aboard the German team’s #5 ORECA 07 Gibson.
It will mark the LMP race debut for both Kelvin van der Linde and for reigning FIA WEC World GT Drivers Champion Nicki Thiim.
Liechtensteiner racer Kaiser raced in last season’s Asian LMS in a Graff Racing LMP3 Norma and contested the Michelin Le Mans Cup this season after title wins in VdeV and Ultimate Cup in 2018 and 2019 respectively.
Swiss driver Trummer is 2020 IMSA LMP2 Championship runner up and has raced in DPI and GT3 machinery in the past two seasons as well as in LMP2 with Algarve Pro Racing and PR1 Mathiesen.
