Spotted at Fuji Speedway earlier this week is a prototype version of the second-generation Subaru BRZ GT300, which is expected to make its debut in the Autobacs Super GT Series in 2021.
The first-generation BRZ raced in GT300 from 2012 to 2020, coinciding with the production of Subaru’s rear-wheel drive sports car that shared the same platform and styling as the sister Toyota 86.

The restyled BRZ will continue to race under the specification that will, from 2021, be referred to as “GTA-GT300” (formerly JAF-GT300) – built upon the mainframe of the production vehicle and open to continuous development throughout the season at the manufacturer’s discretion.
Longtime Subaru GT300 driver Takuto Iguchi was at the wheel of the new BRZ, judging from the appearance of his distinctive green and red crash helmet in the photographs taken by Twitter user @taku_saF1 on Wednesday.
More information about the new BRZ GT300 will be revealed at a later date, likely at the upcoming Tokyo Auto Salon on 15-17 January 2021.
