Like most of us, Motus One is counting down the days to when the latest Lockdown may be lifted. The Silverstone-based operation, which is entering a three-car team in the Goodyear Touring Car Trophy/TCR UK for the first time this season, is looking forward to re-opening the doors to its impressive brand new Driver Performance Centre.
Overseen by ex-World Endurance Championship, Blancpain and Le Mans driver fitness coach Lee Capps, the Motus Driver Performance Centre is a new dedicated driver fitness facility offering race drivers a new level of preparation and training. It opened at the end of last year but local and national lockdowns have unsurprisingly had a detrimental effect on the impressive facility in terms of usage.
Private sessions in COVID-19 safe small groups, or one-to-one appointments with Lee, will be available once the latest restrictions for the general public are lifted. The Motus Driver Performance facility is an indoor area focussed on cardio, reaction and strength and conditioning through tailored programmes led by Lee. Equipment includes spin bikes, waters rowers, Batak and BlazePods, boxing, IronNeck, InertiaWave metabolic conditioning, free weights, kettle bells and much more.
The facility also benefits from two high-end Motus Racing Rig simulators which are often incorporated into training routines. Driver support at a race weekend and recovery services are also available including warm-up, sports massage and Pumpt compression recovery equipment.
Capps has trained and supported drivers at the highest level of GT racing including Aston Martin Racing at Le Mans, World Endurance Championship and Blancpain as well as in motocross and historic racing. He has extensive experience working with gentlemen drivers in the British national series and has been a strength and conditioning coach for 15 years. He founded the Driving Force Fitness and Performance programme, a unique system dedicated to motorsport.
