Welcome To Le Mans Cup, Black Falcon

Black Falcon is a well-known name to readers of these pages through their adventures and achievements in both racing at the Nürburgring, and, more recently, through GT3 ring in the international scene – but the German squad will be another of the new additions to the 2021 Michelin Le Mans Cup with a single Ligier JS P320 for drivers Maik Rosenberg (who has raced with Black Falcon for a decade in GT and touring cars) and Donar Munding (runner-up in the 2020 German Porsche Super Sports Cup).

It’s the first entry from the long-established German team into LMP racing with the team expecting delivery of a further pair of Ligier in the second half of the year, one bound for additional outings in the Le Mans Cup in the hands of two more long-time Black Falcon customers:  Mustafa Mehmet Kaya and Gabriele Piana, the other car principally for training and testing.

Lance David Arnold has been appointed as project manager for the LMP programme as well as a brand ambassador and driver coach for Black Falcon.

Alexander Böhm, CEO and founder of BLACK FALCON: “After more than ten years in GT3 racing, we deliberately looked for a new challenge and found it in the Le Mans prototypes. The vehicles in the LMP category are uncompromising racing vehicles designed on the drawing board and offer driving fun at the highest level, especially due to their aerodynamic performance. Although auxiliary systems such as ABS and power steering are not used in the LMP3 category, the prototypes are up to five seconds faster per lap than GT3 vehicles on Grand Prix circuits.

“The LMP scene is currently booming and new, international opportunities are added every year. This is particularly attractive for our customers who want to practice long-distance sports on a high, international level. After a test phase last winter, we are more than convinced by the LMP concept and have therefore decided on a long-term commitment that will spearhead our customer sports program for the foreseeable future. From June 2021, both LMP 3 and LMP 4 test vehicles will be available for our constantly growing track day community, which can be booked on around 20 dates in the course of 2021.”
