A single lap from Sebastien Buemi in the final hour of track action at the FIA WEC Prologue at Spa Francorchamps finally saw a Hypercar on top of a session after three consecutive sessions over Monday and Tuesday were topped by LMP2 cars.
The 2:04.669 from Buemi in the #8 GR010 HYBRID was though almost precisely half a second down on the best LMP2 time of the test, set in the Tuesday Morning session by G-Drive Racing’s Nyck de Vries, ironically perhaps, the test and development driver for the Toyota Hypercar programme!
United Autosport’s #22 Oreca finished second fastest (Albuquerque 2:04.874) ahead of the #36 Alpine and #8 Toyota with Gabriel Aubry fifth quickest in the first of the LMP2 Pro-Am entered car (2:05.958).
The #91Porsche of Gianmaria Bruni topped GTE Pro, 2:14.244, the two factory Porsche and two Pro Ferraris separated by just over two tenths with the Corvette a further three and a half tenths back.
Again the fastest time of the test come in the Tuesday morning session, a 2:12.916 from Kevin Estre in the #92 Porsche.
GTE Am was topped by the replacement #33 TF Sport Ason Martin, Dylan Pereira popping in a 2:14.969 to fend off the #77 Porsche’s Matt Campbell and #56 911’s Matteo Cairoli.
Fastest time of the cars in the test as a whole though went to the #47 Cetilar Ferrari of Antonio Fuoco, a 2:14.509 in the first session on Monday.
