DSC’s David Lord, Raising Money For Dementia Research & Support

Sponsor Lordy in the 'Race To The King' Double marathon

The Race To The King is on the 19th June a double Marathon distance of 53.6 miles staring just outside Arundel, the route winds along the South Downs Way, ending on the steps of Winchester Cathedral, and claimed burial ground of twelve English kings.

Our Mum has dementia.

Five years ago, our Mum was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease and for five years we have watched a little piece of her disappear every day. Our beautiful, amazing, strong, independent Mum is no longer there. In her place is a little lost soul, who cannot speak, who cannot feed herself and who sits and stares at the walls.

And we are helpless, as we watch our Dads heart break a little more each day; as he watches the beautiful woman he has loved for 65 years regress back into a child.

Some weeks ago Mum fell and broke her hip and her dementia is now so advanced she needs full-time care. She will never come home. We are so sorry Mum, we couldn’t do enough to keep you safe.
