There’s plenty of news around Herberth Motorsport at present after a first race with Ferrari at last month’s 12H Hockenheimring with a Ferrari 488 GT3, this the currently announced marque for their debut in the 2021 Le Mans 24 Hours.
As our friends at GT Eins have discovered though, that may just change!
Herberth opted for the Ferrari after being unable to source a current-spec Porsche 911 RSR with which to take up their automatic Le Mans 24 Hours Invitation courtesy of the GT class Championship win in the 2021 Asian Le Mans Series.
As GT Eins report the team have an ‘interested customer’ to race at Le Mans but with the complication that they do not wish to drive a Ferrari.
That, in turn, has led to a successful search for an available Porsche, plus a parallel investigation into the potential availability, and cost of sourcing, an Aston Martin.
In either case, it would require the agreement of the ACO to allow a switch of marque from that posted on the Herberth entry.
We’ll watch this one with interest!
