Racing Team Nederland has added an entry in the ELMS 4 Hours of Monza to their 2021 programme on 11 July as a test for the FIA WEC 6 Hours of Monza, which will be held a week later.
The #29 Oreca will be entered in the LMP2 Pro-Am class, crewed by Frits van Eerd and Giedo van der Garde in the ELMS race, regular third driver in the WEC Job van Uitert is already a full-season ELMS driver for United Autosports in their #32 Oreca.
The ELMS race will see the Oreca race in the ‘Sprint pack’ aero configuration after the decision was taken earlier this year to allow the ELMS cars to retain the higher downforce package as the WEC-entered cars adopted the ‘Le Mans’ package for the season as part of the ‘stratification’ process to separate the LMP2s from the incoming Hypercar class.
Frits van Eerd: “The possibilities to test during the World Cup are very limited, so this is a great way to prepare for the race in Monza.”
For Racing Team Netherlands, the extra race in Monza marks a one-off return to the European Le Mans Series, in which it debuted in 2017. It is also the first time since that season that the team will race again on the Monza circuit.
