A chance encounter in the Paddock with Messrs Fillon and Neveu seemed to offer an indication that the season entries posted for the WEC and ELMS are rather more than the 28 and 26 suggested respectively at the time of the NEC show!
Enzo Potolicchio gave an intriguing response to the question “I gather that you aren’t competing in the WEC this year?” – His response “Not in LMP2!”
Moniker of the weekend meanwhile goes to the Radio Le Mans listener who has dubbed the 8Star squad as Peugeotlicchio, Enzo is joined of course by a quartet of ex Peugeot factory talent with Sarrazin, Minassian, Davidson and Lamy forming a formidable team.
James Glickenhaus (of P5/5 Competizione renown) was spotted in the paddock, the ex 2011 and 2012 Ring 24 car has now been converted to run as a road car so what’s next? No on the record confirmation just yet but it seems likely that his team will feature in the new for 2014 combined series with a very exciting programme!
There’s plenty of discontent amongst the Corvette DP runners around the issue of restrictors, the cars were handed a restrictor for the weekend after testing up to and including the Roar unrestricted. They were then handed another, reportedly slightly larger restrictor this morning! DSC believes that this has occurred after Grand-Am randomly dyno tested two Corvette DP engines.
And there was confusion in the paddock as Sunoco Daytona Challenge winner Ivan Bellarosa arrived today, the DSC Editor finding himself in an even more confused conversation than usual with the quick Italian – mainly because he wasn’t talking to Ivan at all but his identical twin brother! It seems the brothers Bellarosa are married to – identical twin sisters too!!
