ELMS: Red Bull Ring, Qualifying Report (update)

The stewards have been very busy after that session and the starting grid is quite different as a result.

Peter Kox and Gunnar Jeanette were penalised for not respecting the track limits and lost their three best times as a result.  The Lamborghini falls to last place overall and RAM Racing’s #53 drops back two places behind IMSA and Prospeed.  Good job the American had plenty of good times in the bank.

Mediani was penalised for the same reason in the SMP Racing prototype but, due to a very significant other decision he actually moves up a place.  That decision is to demote the Signatech Alpine to the back of the P2 cars for safety reasons, presumably it was due to Panciatici’s failure to heed the yellow flags on what seemed to be his pole-setting lap.

We have another Jota/Murphy front row as a result.

Significant news in LMPC too with Verdonck and Loup-Chatin’s also committing track limit misdemeanours, demoting #47 to second in class and #49 to third in class, so Algarve and Catsburg do get a debut pole after all.
