GT Masters From Austria On Motors TV

Another week, another race: no break for the ADAC GT Masters as they headed straight from the Nürburgring to the Styrian Alps for Round 5 of the German GT3 series at the Red Bull Ring. Austrian Dominik Baumann leads the points with his German co-driver Claudia Hürtgen for his home race, their Team Schubert BMW Z4 twice a winner this year.

Motors TV will, as always, be showing both one-hour races in full, presented by Mark Cole and Carlton Kirby on Wednesday at 21.00 BST, 21.00 CET, as Porsche continues to chase that elusive 2013 success. Both 2012 counters at the Spielberg roller-coaster went to the Weissach marque – Briton Nick Tandy and Christian Engelhardt taking Race 1 for Schutz Motorsport, and Mario Farnbacher and Niclas Kentenich Race 2 for Farnbacher Racing – but Porsche has drawn a blank after eight races this year while BMW, Audi, Mercedes, Chevrolet and Ford have all scored victories.

Abt Audi pairing Christopher Mies and Rene Rast, also with two wins, are closest to the BMW duo in the standings, with Polarweiss Mercedes duo Maxes Götz and Buhk – who won at the ‘Ring back-to-back with their Spa 24 Hours victory – in third. But after qualifying at the Red Bull Ring it is American V8 muscle power to the fore, Diego Alessi’s Callaway Corvette on pole for Race 1, and Dominik Schwager’s Lambda Ford GT on top for Race 2, which has just 0.9 second covering the top 14 qualifiers.
